LONDON E-Business Support Programme

Case Study: Beam, Peter Magnani

Peter Magnani was the inspiration for London-based business, Beam, which operates under its parent company Tutto Ltd. Motivated by his own struggles with stress, Peter developed ‘Beam’ – an Emotional AI technology and app which acts as a resilience and well-being support tool for both individuals and businesses/corporates to help their employees mitigate daily stress and improve performance. 

The app is based on AI which identifies an individual’s emotional triggers and behaviour patterns, pinpointing correlations and causation, which then links to pathways which provide personalised support. As the app learns more about a person, it picks up more subtle personal triggers and patterns affecting their micro-stressors.  It can be accessed by individual users on iOS and Android, and companies can use it to help track emotions and behavioural dynamics across their organisation (through an anonymised aggregated dashboard). If, for example, the app identifies that a number of employees are struggling with financial well-being, a business can take action to enhance its support in that area. 

Before joining the LONDON E-Business Support Programme with SBREC, Peter sought to enhance his team’s digital marketing and AI testing support and welcomed the idea of an Adviser to act as a sounding board to provide honest, impartial advice and user insight into Beam.  He also wanted to explore digital research opportunities to identify new organisations and new markets and sought advice and support with a potential digital investment strategy. 

Digital Boost 

Once enrolled on the programme, Peter and his team were introduced to the digital databases available at SBREC, which provided valuable resources for research and outreach. E-introductions to potential sales prospects and research partners were made, which strengthened the business’s network. This collaboration also contributed to product refinement and the identification of new market segments, enabling the business to expand its reach and explore untapped opportunities. 

The Beam team participated in the programme’s LinkedIn and YouTube webinars – helping them to increase their digital visibility and build connections on online platforms. 

As a direct result of the digital help and support received the efficiency of the business’s sales processes and digital marketing strategies have significantly improved.  Peter says:

You’ve helped us with digital marketing, with digital research, and linked us with other businesses who have furthered our research. This is all real, practical support. I love that, and I haven’t come across that before. From the people I’ve talked to, you really stand out.” 

Peter is focusing on developing the product experience and capitalising on commercial opportunities. He is looking forward to building the business by targeting companies and developing joint programmes with healthcare services.
