LONDON E-Business Support Programme
Case Study: Kate Edmondson, Kate Edmondson Bridal Couture
Business Overview
Kate Edmondson established her business Kate Edmondson Bridal Couture in 2009 offering bespoke, high-fashion bridal wear for the discerning bride. She works behind the scenes with a small team of expert bridal couturiers based in West London, who support the production of her beautifully handcrafted bridal designs – embodying elegance, sophistication, and timeless beauty.
In response to evolving trends in the luxury bridal market, she launched a complete wedding wardrobe service, catering for brides who require multiple outfits for pre-wedding events and post-wedding celebrations, and targeting those planning multi-day wedding festivities.
Kate collaborates closely with each bride to design the dress and outfits of their dreams. Her unparalleled craftsmanship, intuitive creativity, and commitment to timeless elegance are the hallmarks of her business.
Challenges
Recognising changing trends in the bridal market, Kate identified a growing demand for both budget-conscious and high-end luxury bridal wear and made the strategic decision to position her business in the luxury segment. She was keen to seek professional advice and guidance on how best to make this transition – including how to refine her marketing strategy and enhance her website. With this in mind, she approached LBP and enrolled on the LONDON E-Business Support Programme.
At the initial online meeting, Kate’s allocated E-Business Adviser provided an assessment of her business and its online presence and gave tailored recommendations for improvements. She says, “One key area identified was the need for essential website enhancements, including SEO optimisation and proper security certifications, which I had not previously implemented. Additionally, I was advised to join the programme’s webinars aimed at strengthening my online presence. I successfully completed the recommended improvements for my website and social media platforms.”
Digital Impact
With LBP’s on-going support, Kate developed a structured digital marketing plan outlining short, medium, and long-term goals for her business. As part of the plan, the website was revamped to reflect the luxury brand positioning and she secured a collaboration with Elevate Workshops, participating in three high-end photography workshops featuring her bridal designs, “This provided the luxury imagery necessary to showcase my brand effectively online. I also secured a luxury wedding client who commissioned two bespoke wedding dresses!”
The regular meetings with her E-Business Adviser allowed Kate to explore ways to secure online features in luxury fashion and lifestyle magazines in order to enhance her brand visibility. They discussed documenting her brand journey through film and sharing it across media platforms and social channels. “As a result of these efforts, I secured another ideal client who discovered my brand online - exactly the type of bride I aim to attract.”
The e-business advice and support which Kate received under the programme has had a major impact on the growth of her business, she explains:
“The support has significantly contributed to increased sales and the successful revamp of my website. The mentorship and business guidance provided enabled me to transition seamlessly into the luxury bridal market. I continue to work through the marketing plan and strategies I was given, and the results have been positive. I am reaching my target audience more effectively and generating increased enquiries and orders.”
Future Plans
Looking ahead, Kate aims to secure a dedicated showroom space for bridal consultations while maintaining her current studio for production. She says, “This new space will allow me to create a luxurious client experience that aligns with my brand’s high-end positioning. I also plan to expand my team by hiring additional staff for production in our Acton studio on a freelance basis. Furthermore, I intend to collaborate with fashion stylists, influencers, and PR professionals to enhance brand awareness and continue growing my presence in the luxury bridal market.”
